Cloud Computing/The Portal
“The Portal” is an internet-based integrated learning environment that utilizes cloud computing.
Cloud computing is the delivery of shared resources, software, supplemental curriculum, and information provided to computers and other devices over a network, typically through the Internet. All students and staff at Bonsall West have individual portal accounts allowing them use of a variety of educational resources that can be accessed from anywhere the internet is available. Extended learning can easily take place outside of school hours. Accounts can be personalized in a variety of ways, from simply changing the background to adding unique website links, giving students and staff a sense of ownership.
Programs accessible through the Portal include: Compass Learning Odyssey, Renaissance Learning, High Stakes Math, United Streaming, ST Math, Worldbook Online, Gmail, and NWEA. Students and staff can access these programs anywhere, anytime, anyplace, allowing for unlimited learning opportunities.
After School Programs
Bonsall West offers an array of after school opportunities to our students as a way to extend their learning beyond the normal school day.
Choir/Band - 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students can enroll in choir and/or band programs. Band students have the option to play flute, clarinet, trumpet, or saxophone. Both the choir and band put on performances throughout the year.
ASES - Students that attend our ASES (After School Education & Safety) program participate in a daily homework hour, additional computer lab time and activities such as cheerleading, organized sports, dance and leadership training.
Additional Programs - Other after school opportunities include Mad Science, a First Lego League (FLL) Robotics team, and ST Math. We are working to expand even further this year to include foreign language opportunities for our students, such as Mandarin courses.
